April 2002 - 'Hall-of Fame' - Steven from California Fargo Street is purported to be the steepest street in Los Angeles.  Each year, the LA Wheelmen sponsor an event at the site, challenging all the local clubs to participate. In order to be inducted into the climber's 'hall-of-fame', one must climb this hill without "dabbing" ones foot (or popping a wheelie or falling over). Although the climb is less then 1/4 mile in length, the grade is such that the legs go anaerobic within the first 25%. As I started the climb, the announcer began reading from my entry form when he noticed my club affiliations. His introduction went something like this: "All the way from Jerusalem, riding for Cyclenix, give it up for..." The crowd of several hundred went wild; that was a big motivator for me. I'm holding the patch earned by completing the hill. I also included a link to a site that speaks a bit more about the event.
