Ride Report - 25th August 2007 - By Max
2007_08_25
Well, we started off with 18 ( I think) riders and by the time we got to the New bridge over the railway, between Tzomet Dror and Natanya Darom, we were 17. ( There were 17 green bottles hanging on a tree...) One of our riders had disapeared into the wilds of the Sharon. We only really knew about it when David who was away up North phoned John to tell him that he had been called up by the Lost Rider of Cyclenix.

Even when David is not on the ride he is still very much there. The only real problem with David not being on the ride was that we each had to lug our own bikes over dividers and other obstacles. Hutzpah !!! Do we as a group or as individual riders need to go into areas definitely marked with NO ENTRY signs (especially smelly ones) ? This writer is of the opinion that in order not to cause areas to be closed off to the riding community as a whole, we should do our best to keep to the YES ENTRY areas.

All in all a great morning’s run, good company, good exercise and we all hope that Nurit will spend more time ON the bike ..next time.

TIME; 20.00 We left on time! Bike Riding Smile
Night ride 22.08.07
WHO WAS THERE? 23 riders including some first timers! Welcome to them.
ROUTE Ramat Gan Stadium - Tochnit Lamed - Tel Baruch (where we made an unscheduled stop - read on!)- back to Ha Yarkon Street - TA Port - Tayelette along the Beach front - Ben Gurion Street - Ibn Givrol - Refreshment stop at AROMA, Back to the Ramat Gan Stadium where our cars were via the banks of the HaYarkon river.
INCIDENT Something distracted Martin at the business centre of Tel Baruch!..... and he crashed into a bollard ....flew though the air but fortunate did not sustain any serious injuries and was able to carry on and enjoy (albeit in a little pain) the return trip and the refreshment break! It's important not to be distracted while cycling!!! Shocked
SUMMARY Everyone enjoyed themselves (I think that even Martin did!)

It was like a blast from the past!! Two riders whom we haven't seen for ages graced us with the presence.........Ronnie (how long has it been?......maybe two years?) and Freddy (we last saw him about a year ago) Welcome back to both of you. It was really nice having you back with us.

And now for a welcome and an apology!!! We had a few new riders with us today and I hope that each and every one of you enjoyed yourselves and that we will see more of you in the future. What's the apology? I apologise to the newcommers for not having written down the names and welcoming you each by name, but, you know who you are, and we really enjoyed having you with us.

The weather wasn't too hot and the Home Patch route was one that we have often ridden. The important thing was that the company was great, the exercise was good and hopefully, everyone enjoyed their ride. That's what cyclenix is all about!! The stop at Gofferman's was just in time and very welcome. From there is was "homeward bound" with another 36 kilometres of healthy and fun riding under our belt. See you next week!

Hi everyone

22 riders met at the usual spot in Ra'anana.
טוב מאוד לראות את אבי.

Hello Avi!!!!!!!
לאבי ושאול יש שתי מילים שלמדתי בארץ: "לאט...לאט" ובמילים שלי: " עם כוח ואהבה!"

The beginning of the ride took us down Ahuza, along the border of Kfar Shmeryahu and then all I can tell you is that I followed whoever was in front of me (Ted kept me on track) from behind, and we rode in the direction of Yakum. We went up the hills and down the hills and passed Café Bueno, over the bridge, past Ga'ash and then
סוף סוף...לקפה בארסוף.

It was wonderful to sit in the shade, rest tired muscles and talk. The South African members (namely Dr. Dan…good to have you riding again Daniel) persuaded Max that he should really put some of his vanilla ice cream into his glass of coke and enjoy what is known in South Africa as a "Coke Float." We (the South Africans) thought it looked good, we know that it tastes great!

Then up and on homeward. Tzilla had a puncture and it was Ted to the rescue…..And it came to mind that it was wonderful how, when something conks out with a bike, everyone else gathers around to lend a hand or just stands and gives moral support. To borrow from The Three Muskateers.."All for one and one for all!!!"
אחד לכולם וכולם למען אחד!

The tempo of the ride this morning was faster than usual with hardly any stops
המערות הבוקר היה יותר מהר מרגיל ועם כמת עין הפסקות.

But this was good!!!!!!!!!! We rode about 35 kilometres. The weather was great..The early start does make a difference.

שבוה טוב..

Have a great week.

Participants: 31.07.07 - eleven including newcomers Lucy, Stanley and Michael
Night Ride Aug 7, 2007
07.08.07 - fifteen including newcomer Lauren (from Maple-Leaf Land)

Route: Start at the Ramat Gan Stadium (Gate 8); along the Yarkon (north bank) to the Old Port; on the Tayelet to Jaffa and back via Neve Zedek, Rothschild, Chen, Ibn Gvirol (with a refreshment stop at the Aroma) and the Yarkon (south then north bank) - 28 kms

Comment: Welcome to all participants on our "revived" night rides, and especially to our newcomers. The perfect excuse (do we really need one?) for a mid-week "bike-out" to make the best of the evening coolth amid a spectrum of amazing contrasts of people and scenes - of a river's tranquillity, the smell of sea and spray, the uniqueness of ancient Jaffa, the magic of Neve Zedek, and the never-ending buzz that is the very heart-beat of Tel Aviv. And all this over the span of an evening's bike ride..!!

Why miss out - come join us next week....
Ride Report - 4th August 2007 - By Abraham
Ride 04.08.07
Today's ride was a Regular and UNEVENTFULL one. Except few digressions:
  1. Udi tried a secret spell which would take him thru a closed gate. It didn't work. The angry gate threw him and his bike to the ground (compare with Don Kochote). Luckily no damege done (to the bike, Udi and gate).
  2. We were blinded (temporarily) by the NEW, BLUE, ITALIAN shoes on the feet of Ariel, just next to his new Specialized bike.
  3. We were disoriented by Itzik's dissapearances far ahead, sudden reappearances from nowhere, riding back and forth at the speed of light. Unbelievable. He has to go thru a check for..., you know what.
  4. We found a new spot for a refreshments break, Espresso Bar, at the Doron gas station next to Gaash. Expensive, slow service, no variety, not enough shadow. To be bypassed next time.
  5. In spite of the above, very comfortable chairs, to cause one of us to doze off over his orange juice (It was the undersigned above to have the honour, or rather the pleasure).
So, as you see, nothing unusual. Eleven riders reported at the usual spot, waited for the usual management, which didn't appear. Ted took care of administration and appointed Mony to lead. We headed north, thru pardesim, Batzra, Yakum, bypassed the Bono cafe, as usual (may be we should't?), crossed the bridge, back to Gaash/Shefayim, a break, and back to Raanana.

Nothing unusual. But still delightfull.
